Plant Calculator

Fill in the blanks and click calculate to determine how many plants you need for a specific area.

Best used to determine groundcover or plant of the same species (mass planting).

Calculating the Square footage of a Triangle:
  • Consider the longest side of the triangle the BASE.
  • Measure a perpendicular line from the opposite angle to the base to determine the triangle's HEIGHT.
  • Multiple the BASE by the HEIGHT, and divide that number in half to determine the area.
(BASE x HEIGHT) / 2
Example:  (20 feet x 15 feet) / 2 = 150 Square feet

Calculating the Square footage of a Circle:
  • Find the center point of the circle.
  • Measure from the point to the edge of the circle to determine the RADIUS.
  • Multiply the RADIUS by itself.
  • Then multiply that number by PI (3.14) to find the area of your circle.
(RADIUS x RADIUS) x 3.14 = AREA
Example:  (10 feet x 10 feet) x 3.14 = 314 Square feet
