'Annabelle' Smooth Hydrangea has white snowball flowers in June and July, a classic plant from Joe McDaniel, a University of Illinois professor.  The name Annabelle is a reference to the town of Anna, Illinois, where the plant was shared amougst gardeners.   Hydrangea arborescens 'Annabelle' is considered by many to be somewhat deer resistant! A a late spring gentle trimming helps to delay the flower period and reduce the flopping.  Smooth Hydrangeas are salt tolerant.
