Hamamelis x 'Beholden'

Witchhazel

‘Beholden’ Vernal Witchhazel is a great cross between Hamamelis vernalis ‘Amethyst’ (purple) and Hamamelis vernalis ‘Holden’ (yellow to orange). Like Chris Lane’s introduction ‘Holden’, Hamamelis x ‘Beholden’ is a very early Witchhazel, starting to bloom in late fall.  This cross was discovered by Ron Schild of Ohio and in his Zone 5 location it starts blooming a week before Thanksgiving and blooms until the end of February, with fragrant to red-orange blooms.  It was introduced by the great Hamamelis expert Tim Brotsman. A sturdy non-suckering shrub (propagated from cuttings, not grafted).
