Packera obovata
An incredibly underappreciated perennial native wildflower known for its early April bloom time, appearing often in slightly disturbed, woodland habitats with partial sun and dry to mesic soils. An important source of nectar for early emerging spring pollinators. Makes a good deer-resistant lawn replacement or groundcover where it will happily naturalize. Drought and heavy shade tolerant.

Paeonia 'Buckeye Belle'
'Buckeye Belle' Garden Peony blooms in May, producing stunning dark maroon red semi-double flowers made more showy by the large bright yellow stamens. Paeonia 'Buckeye Belle' is considered an early season bloomer and was introduced by Mains in 1956 so it has clearly stood the test of time. Bring it into the house as a cut flower and enjoy the fragrance.

'Coral Charm' Garden Peony has lovely semi-double bright coral blooms opening in May and June. Peonies bloom for an extended period, and make great cut flowers with a subtle scent that takes many of us back to our childhood memories. Paeonia 'Early Scout'
'Early Scout' Fernleaf Peony is one of the earliest Peonies in the garden. The foliage is finely dissected ("fern-like') and is topped by single deep red blossoms in May. The vivid red color is set off by the bright yellow stamens and Paeonia 'Early Scout' makes an excellent addition to flower arrangements. 'Early Scout' won a gold medal from the American Peony Society.
