Epimedium grandiflorum 'Pretty in Pink'
Perfect for bringing a pop of color to the shade garden, Epimedium ‘Pretty in Pink’ offers profuse sprays of unique, tri-colored blooms, with white-to-rose pink spurs and raspberry red centers, first appearing towards the middle of April and persisting to early June. Semi-evergreen, heart-shaped foliage emerges bronze-purple in early spring, taking on a brighter green hue throughout the summer, and then returning to its bronze-purple hue come autumn. It is this bronzy foliage and the dark pink, star-shaped flowers that differentiate Epimedium ‘Pretty in Pink’ from the slightly higher growing, lighter colored Epimedium ‘Pink Champagne’. A truly remarkable multi-seasonal specimen for shade gardens with dry soil, ‘Pretty in Pink’ Barrenwort can easily be utilized for erosion control or for planting under well-established, mature shade trees.
