Blue Eyed Grass

Sisyrinchium angustifolium 'Suwannee'

'Suwannee' Blue-eyed Grass starts blooming in late spring, continuing well into summer. The delicate soft blue flowers hover over the short grass-like foliage. They are set off by tiny yellow eyezones, and butterflies and pollinators are drawn to them on sunny days when the flowers open up. Sisyrinchiums are actually members of the Iris family and they make a tough, poor soil accent, seen often in abandoned pastures. Found in Florida along the Suwannee River by Charles Webb.
