Diervilla x splendens Kodiak® Jet Black® PP36846
Bush-honeysuckle
Calling all goth gardeners! There’s nothing quite like the persistent, midnight black foliage that gives Diervilla Kodiak Jet Black™ its name. Even at the height of summer, the stark black leaves of this deciduous shrub maintain their color, punctuated by highlighter yellow flowers in June and July that seem to make the leaves appear even darker. The small, tubular flowers are attractive to pollinators such as hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees, although their lengthy bloomtime makes them ideal for human use as a striking filler in fresh cut flower arrangements as well. Kodiak Jet Black™ Diervilla makes a lovely and unexpected addition to pollinator gardens, containers, or as an informal hedge along borders or perimeters. The namesake black foliage is known for its disease resistance, keeping it attractive throughout the growing season and well into autumn.
