Digitalis purpurea 'Dalmatian Purple Improved'
Foxglove
Digitalis purpurea ‘Dalmatian Purple Improved’ is the aptly named new-and-improved version of ‘Dalmatian Purple’ Foxglove, featuring vigorously blooming, upright spikes of large, lilac purple flowers with maroon and white throat splotches. Known for being a hardy biennial, The dense spikes of bell-shaped blossoms emerge in their first year over basal rosettes of downy green foliage from early June to mid-July, inviting a flurry of pollinators to the perennial garden. ‘Dalmatian Purple Improved’ Foxglove is the recipient of the FleuroSelect Gold Medal for its outstanding garden performance, its sturdy, upright habit, and its earlier-blooming, floriferous growth that creates quite a spectacle within its space – from the full sun cut flower or part shade woodland garden. As with all Foxgloves, its toxicity makes it highly resistant to rabbit and deer browse, ensuring a sprightly bloom each summer.
