Echinacea purpurea 'Sweet Sandia' PPAF

Coneflower

Just when you think you’ve seen it all in the coneflower world, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet! Echinacea purpurea ‘Sweet Sandia’ is one of the newest and most exciting Purple Coneflower selections we’ve had the pleasure of growing. Reddish-magenta ray “petals” have the appearance of having their ends carefully dipped in fluorescent avocado-green gouache, cloaking the flowers in a psychedelic aura unmatched by previous Coneflower introductions. Raspberry red and avocado green held together by conical centers ranging from sunrise red to blackish brown in color, the union of the two colors couldn’t be more unexpected - or more complimentary. From July to late October, a consistent and long-lasting show of these multi-colored masterpieces can be admired, attracting busy bees and butterflies. A compact and easily manageable height and spread of less than 24” makes ‘Sweet Sandia’ Purple Coneflower a surprising addition to summertime containers, and will intrigue and bewilder visitors in the sunny perennial border for years to come!
