Echinacea x 'Merlot' PP18814

Coneflower

If you’ve ever craved a purple coneflower with a bit of an obvious red twang, then Echinacea purpurea ‘Merlot’ is here to fill your needs… and your garden! ‘Merlot’ Coneflower is a native perennial chosen for its sultry, wine-red stems that emerge above dark green foliage, boasting reddish-purple, daisy-like flowers with chestnut red centers that appear between from June to September, often sporadically until the first frost. Wiry stems and a long bloom time make ‘Merlot’ Coneflowers wonderful as a fresh addition to summertime arrangements so that its lovely fragrance can be admired indoors as well as out. As with other coneflower selections, deadheading will promote a longer bloom, however songbirds such as American goldfinches benefit from nutritious leftover seedheads well into winter.
