Geum quellyon var. flora plena 'Blazing Sunset'

Avens

Geum flora plena ‘Blazing Sunset’ puts on a show all summer long, with its frilly, fiery orange-red, double-petal flowers appearing above its soft, downy green foliage from late May to mid-August. On top of the stark red color that stands out amongst other perennials in the border garden, it also offers the largest flower amongst Geum, known commonly as Avens, appearing earlier in the season and ceasing its bloom time later than most in the genus. The flowers also make an excellent addition to fresh arrangements, providing an eccentric pop both within the home and in the landscape. ‘Blazing Sunset’ Avens prefers good draining soil, especially during winter, when the fuzzy foliage will remain semi-evergreen.
