Hydrangea macrophylla Eclipse® PP34544

Bigleaf Hydrangea

The first of its kind, Hydrangea macrophylla Eclipse® is a mophead Bigleaf Hydrangea with enchanting, nearly black foliage topped by cranberry-red flowerheads throughout the summer. The dark foliage remains intact throughout the growing season, even standing up to the heat of the summer and maintaining its moody palette. Despite its heat tolerance, Hydrangea macrophylla Eclipse® is also quite cold hardy, blooming consistently even in zone 5. This rare, dark-leafed selection goes even a step further by being particularly resistant to many common pests and diseases of hydrangeas. With an overall mature growth height and width of 3-5’, ‘Eclipse’ Bigleaf Hydrangea is highly versatile to many different landscapes and site conditions, used as a striking foundation specimen or grouped in a short, but attractive, hedgerow.
