Oafleaf™ ('Conaf') Red Holly is an upright pyramidal Ilex, descended from a seedling of Ilex 'Mary Nell'.  The lustrous dark green leaves are spiny and evergreen.  They provive a handsome backdrop for the ornage-red fruit.  The new foliage appears in late spring in shades of bronze and burgundy and turns green as it matures.  The small ivory flowers appear in early to mid spring, and are attractive to pollinators, as well as mildly fragrant.  Ilex x Oakleaf™ is excellent as a hedge or as a single specimen, but should be sited out of winter winds.
