Iris pseudata 'Eye Liner' PPAF

Pseudata Iris

Iris pseudata ‘Eye Liner’ is the uno-reverse version of the species with its pearlescent ivory petals featuring golden yellow eyes and violet purple margins around each eye that radiate outward to the ruffled petal edges. ‘Eye Liner’ Pseudata Iris is an interspecific hybrid selected for its tri-colored opalesque flowers, fantastic garden performance, and vigorous (albeit more contained) growth habit, all the while retaining the pronounced size of the flowers and the persistence of foliage found in Iris pseudata, I. ensata, and I. pseudocorus - a true testament to its parents good genetics! Despite its love of wet soils and pond edges, Iris pseudata ‘Eye Liner’ will also adapt to average soil conditions, as well as soils that may be occasionally drought-prone. The large, fragrant flowers begin to emerge in June, attracting bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other friendly pollinators. Despite its attractive appearance, ‘Eye Liner’ Pseudata Iris is largely ignored by deer, rabbits, and other herbivorous pests, making it a reliable addition to many different types of landscapes.
