Verbena hastata 'Pink Spires'
Verain
As magical as it is easy to maintain, Verbena hastata 'Pink Spires' is the perfect pink-flowering perennial to punctuate the landscape with its vertical, wand-like inflorescences. From July to September, the candelabra-esque panicles featuring tiny rose-pink florets entice passing butterflies, bees, and the occasional hummingbird to the garden. 'Pink Spires' Vervain is a native clumping facultative wetland plant that grows easily along low-lying roadside ditches, rain or bog gardens, naturalistic wetland gardens, streams and riverbanks. The course, toothed leaves and slightly hairy stems holding aloft the delicate 'Pink Spires' of this Blue Vervain's namesake keep deer from browsing, allowing it to be an unbothered force in the landscape all season long.
