Cercis canadensis Sparkling Wine™ PP32138

Eastern Redbud

As its name implies, Cercis canadensis Sparkling Wine™ resembles a tall glass of bubbly reddish purples from head to toe. Selected for its compact, upright habit, as well as its vigorous growth and excellent performance in the landscape, Sparkling Wine™ Eastern Redbud has all the qualities that make this small native tree a favorite of Mid-Atlantic gardeners, plus the explosion of emerging deep red-to-purple foliage that fades to a bronzy green at maturity. When leaves are blown in a summer breeze, their velvety purple undersides become visible that give the foliage a shimmering quality. In early spring, usually in May, lavender-pink flowers completely cover the branches, making a delectable snack for early spring pollinators. Come autumn, a rainbow of purples, oranges, and greens take over the foliage, rounding this specimen out to be attractive throughout multiple seasons. Sparkling Wine™ Eastern Redbud is revered for its resistance to heavy winds and cold.
