Phlox subulata 'Purple Beauty'

Creeping Phlox

Arguably one of our favorite flowering groundcover perennials here at the nursery, Phlox subulata ‘Purple Beauty’ is as gorgeous as it is versatile and low-maintenance in the landscape. This selection of Moss Phlox, also occasionally referred to as Creeping Phlox, looks absolutely stunning when allowed to spread naturally and create a dense carpet of finely textured foliage that becomes fully covered in lavender-purple blooms come spring. Throughout the end of April and into May, the prolific blooms completely obscure the needle-like foliage to make the plant appear as though it is composed entirely of flowers. When left to scramble over a rock wall or soften up a border edge, ‘Purple Beauty’ Moss Phlox assumes a diminutive but impressively expansive mat of growth, requiring well-draining soil and full sun for its most stunning appearance. Even better, this North American native is also deer-resistant and evergreen in mild winter climates, making it the perfect year-round choice for a variety of site conditions.
