Verbascum x 'Dark Eyes' PP16986

Mullein

All the charm and beauty of wild Mullein contained in a miniature package! Verbascum ‘Dark Eyes’ is a dwarf Mullein selection chosen for its short stature, with the flowers reaching 12-14” in height over a compact mound of basal foliage. Upright spikes of light-yellow flowers with maroon-purple centers begin to appear around July, blooming throughout summer and often into autumn. The flowers make excellent additions to freshly cut arrangements, and deadheading any spent inflorescences will help to prolong the bloom period deeper into the season. The deep green, rugose foliage remains semi-evergreen in mild winters, and provides textural interest to the garden when the plant is not in bloom. Butterflies are attracted to the flowers, making it a wonderful addition to the front of the perennial border or pollinator garden alongside darker, summer-blooming perennials.
