Amsonia hubrichtii Butterscotch™

Arkansas Amsonia

Selected for its warm glow of late season hues, Amsonia hubrichtii Butterscotch™ is the native plant lover’s answer to prayers for multiple seasons of interest within a single plant. While the precious, icy blue star-shaped springtime flowers of Butterscotch™ Blue Star offer their own seasonal interest, it’s the fall color that makes this native perennial a garden celebrity. Upon the arrival of cooler autumn temperatures, the narrow, willowy foliage becomes emblazoned with vibrant oranges and golden yellows on reddish stems. Butterscotch™ Blue Star is deer resistant and has a more improved form than the species and makes a spectacular addition to the rain garden, as a mass plant in naturalized scenarios, or as a multi-seasonal specimen within the perennial border.
