A native shade tree with the ornamentality of a Japanese maple, Cercis canadensis Garden Gems™ Amethyst is a perfect garden specimen with burgundy foliage throughout the growing season. In early spring, hot pink blooms cover the architectural branches of Garden Gems™ Amethyst Redbud, followed shortly after by the emergence of purple-red leaves that persist with color even at the height of summer heat. The small, compact stature and highly branched form of this native shade tree makes it an excellent addition to large container plantings, as well as an attractive foundation specimen that offers multiple seasons of interest.
