A brand new introduction to the Garden Gems® series! Cercis candensis 'Emerald Falls' is a graceful weeping Eastern Redbud selection promising an explosion of abundant, rosy-purple peaflower-shaped blooms along pendulous, zig-zagging branches from April to early May before foliage emerges. Glossy heart-shaped leaves emerge with soft shades of red and mature to lively greens. Although selected for its small form, the cascading canopy of soft green leaves provides respite along walkways and patios through summer, softening walls, slopes, and garden edges with its pendulous branching habit. Our North American native 'Emerald Falls' Eastern Redbud is particularly effective as a specimen within tight urban gardens, near thresholds or commercial entrance points, or water features where its sculptural form and early flowers can be fully appreciated. Adaptable to a range of soil conditions with good drainage and a great source of early nectar for pollinators.
