El Nino® Desert Orchid features large, magenta-pink, tubular blooms resembling orchids with frilly ridges that emit a pleasant vanilla aroma during the summer months. From June to August, the fragrant flowers bloom continuously in showy clusters on this small ornamental tree, which typically maxes out at a height of 20’ once mature. With the hardiness of its parent Cigar Tree and the floriferous nature of its other parent, Desert Willow, El Nino® Desert Orchid is capable of thriving in and beautifying some of the toughest site conditions in North American climates. Due to its adaptability and disease resistance, Chitalpa El Nino® can be regularly trimmed to promote more flowers, and can also be shaped as desired without impacting its rigorous growth.
