Sedum x 'Night Light' PP34272

Stonecrop

Sedum ‘Night Light’ is a succulent perennial plant with noticeably bluish-purple foliage throughout the growing season that forms a substantial mound as it matures. The sturdy, upright stems are deep purple in color with dark purple to olive green foliage. Summertime flowerbuds develop from July to September, eventually emerging in early to mid-September and October first as yellow florets and fading to a blush pink as they age. Before they even bloom, Sedum ‘Night Light’ flowers appear as unopened buds for some time, adding textural interest to the apex of the fleshy purple foliage. This textural interest reappears again in the late fall and early winter, with spent seedheads persisting as attractive ornamental features. ‘Night Light’ Stonecrop is a great addition to sunny rock gardens, and can easily be used to accentuate perennial borders that have generally poor soils or are prone to salt exposure. Rabbits tend not to bother this plant, although you may find that it attracts many types of gorgeous butterflies to the garden!
