Pieris japonica 'Cavatine'

Japanese Andromeda

An evergreen shrub that’s also a flowering masterpiece? Count us in! Pieris japonica ‘Cavatine’ is a dwarf Andromeda that has been selected not only for its lustrous green foliage year-round, but its profuse drooping clusters of creamy white bell-shaped flowers that appear in spring. Between March and April, the entire crown of the plant is covered in the tiny blooms that are attractive to bees. Best flowering occurs in full sun, but ‘Cavatine’ dwarf Andromeda does well in dappled shade, working well within the open understory or in the woodland garden. Pieris japonica ‘Cavatine’ also makes a lovely container specimen where it can live successfully for several years, and it is mostly tolerant of urban conditions and resistant to drought and deer browse. Really, there’s nothing not to love about this shrub!
