Cornus florida 'Super Princess'

Flowering Dogwood

Watch out, ‘Cherokee Princess’, there’s a new Super Princess in town! Cornus florida ‘Super Princess’, to be exact! Selected for its cartoonishly large and purely white springtime flowers, each of the four-bracted inflorescences reaching up to 5” across and enveloping the entire tree in blossoms like a blanket of snow in early spring around the end of March and into early April. Glossy, dark green foliage takes over throughout the growing season, eventually becoming enrobed in reds and red-purples in autumn, while the once pure springtime flowers evolve into clusters of shiny red upward-pointing drupes that are loved by birds. ‘Super Princess’ is a small and well-branched specimen with somewhat low, horizontal branching that offers a unique silhouette and multiple seasons of interest in the home landscape.
