Cornus florida var. xanthocarpa

Flowering Dogwood

All of the benefits of our red-fruited, native Flowering Dogwoods, but with a catch: yellow fruits! Cornus florida var. xanthocarpa is a natural variation of our classic understory favorite, featuring the same fantastic fall color as the species, the same small to medium habit perfect for a variety of landscapes, and the white, large-bracted inflorescences in mid-spring from April to May. Following pollination, clusters of shiny, golden yellow fruits appear, attracting birds in the midsummer months. Throughout the growing season, the foliage maintains a slightly yellow tinge in comparison to the species plant, giving the part shade landscape a soft glow amidst the typical greens.
