Itea virginica Fizzy Mizzy® PP33549

Sweetspire

Move over, Little Henry®! Itea virginica Fizzy Mizzy® is everything native plant lovers are after in other small, compact Virginia Sweetspire varieties and so, so much more! You haven’t seen a Virginia Sweetspire in flower until you’ve seen Itea virginica Fizzy Mizzy®. Seemingly covered in densely packed, upright racemes from mid-May into June, this deciduous shrub becomes aflurry in the late spring with hungry pollinators greedily trying to siphon up the delectable nectar - and you might not be far behind! The profusely blooming, white flower clusters are highly aromatic, and Fizzy Mizzy® Virginia Sweetspire’s veritable cloak of fragrant inflorescences is sure to garner attention from curious garden visitors. The flowers reach skyward, differing from the typical arching racemes of previous Virginia Sweetspire selections. Following its bloomtime and alongside the development of the ornamental fruit capsules, the foliage takes on lovely autumnal shades of maroon and red. Prized for its small, compact stature and a lack of need for pruning in order to maintain tidiness, Itea virginica Fizzy Mizzy® makes an excellent addition to mixed containers and border gardens, and can even be used as a low-growing deciduous shrub with multiple seasons of interest.
