Viburnum prunifolium 'Dark Tower'

Blackhaw Viburnum

A unique small tree form selection of our native deciduous shrub, Viburnum prunifolium ‘Dark Tower’ is a bit of an obscure but welcomed presence in the landscape. Dark green, glossy foliage creates a lovely pyramidal form with sturdy branching, accentuated by clusters of attractive white flowers in May. The bright white flowers of ‘Dark Tower’ Blackhaw Viburnum, much like those of its straight species cousin, are attractive to bees and butterflies. Following the springtime flowers, bird-friendly dark bluish-black fruits appear in August and September intermingled with and contrasting beautifully against a foliar palette of crimson reds and sunset oranges. Suitable for planting under utility lines.
