Solidago graminifolia

Grass-leaved Goldenrod

Solidago graminifolia, known also as Euthamia graminifolia and commonly as Grass-Leaved Goldenrod, is a native wetland perennial species with large, flat-topped clusters of bright yellow flowers that bloom above the namesake narrow, linear foliage. Grass-Leaved Goldenrod produces abundant blooms from late July to early October that differentiate themselves from their genetic brethren due to their clustered, umbel-like arrangement. As the plant matures, it takes on a bushy appearance, making it a suitable option for filling in space within the full sun native pollinator garden. Solidago graminifolia is known to attract all types of pollinating pals, although Goldenrod Soldier Beetles and Black Blister Beetles are particularly attracted to the flowers. Late-season bees, butterflies, wasps, and flies are also regular visitors to the flat-topped inflorescences, while goldfinches and other songbirds have been known to nibble on dried seedheads.
